Also count the traffic on your street
In Amsterdam North, a trial with temporary traffic counters will start from 15 February. Residents use an automatic Telraam to see how much and what traffic is going through their streets. we need your help with that.
How much traffic is on the streets? And are these mainly cars or cyclists? This information is important, for example, to take measures to make cycling more fun and safer for all ages. Or to compare the crowds in double streets in the city.
Are you in?
Sign up via the button below. As a participant you get a small box that you can put behind your window. This is called a Telraam. Initially, 20 Telramen are available for this trial. You will need a window with a view of the road for this test.
About the Telraam
The Telraam counts automatic cyclists, pedestrians, cars and trucks. With the Telraam you can see how the traffic in your street differs from day to day and, for example, how fast people are driving. This is done in a privacy-friendly way. The Telraam only counts and does not recognize faces from number plates. During 2 workshops you will learn more about how the Telraam works and how you can set it up at home. And how you can make self-analyses, for example.
Count together as a test
Traffic counting now mainly takes place on main roads and motorways and this traffic data is collected together with specialized companies. Because we want to investigate whether this can be done differently, namely by counting together with Amsterdammers, Telraam is starting this trial. We are doing this trial to learn together how we can use technology and data for the city. We use the number of cyclists in Noord for future policy.
