Prague – The last farewell to Meda Mládková, who died on May 3 at the age of 102, is in Prague today. The church program with the participation of the public is created from 15:00 in the Church of Our Lady Victorious in Karmelitská Street, which people call the U Pražského Jezulátka. Mládková was known as a promoter of the work of painter František Kupka and as a woman who helped Czech artists of the second half of the 20th century through the former Iron Curtain.
Meda Mládková was born on September 8, 1919 in Zákupy in northern Bohemia. From 1948 she lived in exile, first in Switzerland, later in France and finally in the United States, helping compatriots. From 1955 to 1960 he studied art history in Paris. In the French metropolis, they gained an origin with Kupka and a Czech painter to collect, whose works began.
To present her art collection after the revolution, she chose the dilapidated Owl Mills building and founded a foundation. The building of the future museum was acquired by Prague from the state in 1997, and Mládková leased Owl’s Mills from the city for 99 years. before his death in 2002, the poet, artist and art collector Jiří Kolář donated to the Mládek Foundation.
