The castle, whose original owners seemed to have left a while ago
Which part of the castle are you most proud of?
When we say “restoration and preservation of monuments”, what can we imagine how deeply the changes have affected? I am most proud that we managed to return the original castle collections to the chateau, also with the great help of families who owned the chateau in the past and now live abroad. It turns out that the castle is small for so many authentic collections, we brought several of them, including paintings, furniture, porcelain, personal belongings, bedding, towels, napkins, tablecloths. In addition, many historical photographs and inventors make it possible to trace the original pieces of castle equipment in various depositories, especially state castles. Today, the Kunín chateau is furnished in such a way that it looks as if the owners left a short time ago.
It lives a lot at the chateau during the year. As covid changed it, did you have the opportunity to do some projects “remotely”?
The normal castle season is really very rich. There are a lot of concerts at the chateau, for example there have been international courses in the interpretation of early music organized by the Brno luthier for years. Honza Čižmář. These are top performers and students from literally all over the world, from America through all of Europe to Asia and Australia. Every year we prepared exhibitions related to the history of the castle. I am proud of the unique children’s tours, where young children as guides in costumes from the time of Countess Walburga accompany their peers through the castle. And they are the peak of the season festivities of roses in honor of the countess. The arrangement is being prepared by the well-known Brno florist Slávek Rabušic and his team. Hundreds of tourists visit the castle every day. Covid crashed everything, something stopped, formats changed. But it was time for professional work and for reinstalling the collections. I hope that this season will be normal again, I am very much looking forward to visiting and returning to traditional cultural events. This year also in cooperation with the Brno Šaruš History Fashion.
