Have you not seen Ribe?
When the Danish part of the Wadden Sea ended up on UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites in 2014, the national park came up in the same league as the pyramids in Egypt and the Grand Canyon in the USA.
The Wadden Sea is one of the world’s largest tidal areas – with a huge wildlife. Twice a day it is as if the Wadden Sea is changing. It goes from being exposed seabed – to rippling sea! The 500 kilometer long area stretches from Blåvandshuk in Denmark down through Germany before ending up in Den Helder in the Netherlands.
– The nature trips that are arranged here are of the highest quality, says Lise Frederiksen.
Although she has lived here for over 30 years, she has said daily she loves the nature experiences.
– We have been good at utilizing the area as much as possible, while we can be in nature. Seal safari, amber and oyster hunting … To take the trip out on the exposed seabed, find oysters and eat them with a little champagne. It really is a great experience for adults!
Lise Fredriksen thinks stopping and saying the time to just watch is important. Perhaps more important than most of us think about in everyday life.
– It’s about to stretch out the eye, says Lise Fredriksen. – There is nothing here that stops the gaze. One of the things I treat myself to is to cycle out to the dike outside the city – and sit and look beyond eternity. The next stop is actually England, right!
