Zakharova: Russia is not obliged to regulate the ICC in Ukraine
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow is not obliged to be controlled by the International Criminal Court (ICC). This is how Ms. Zakharova commented on the alleged participation of the ICC representative in the investigation of alleged dangerous situations on the ground, which became known on April 25.
“We remind you that Russia does not participate in the Rome Statute of the ICC and is not obliged to govern with it. However, we will continue to carefully monitor how to own this body, ”— announced representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The work created under the auspices of the Eurojust Joint Investigation Team of Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine will be biased and one-sided, premise Maria Zakharova. She drew an analogy with the investigation into the crash of flight MH17 (a Malaysian Airlines plane shot down over Ukraine in 2014).
“As for the ICC prosecutor’s office, this is her architectural step, that she does not even perceive at least the appearance of impartiality and objectivity and, over time, connects to the process, which manifests itself suddenly in the identified manifestations,” said Ms. Zakharova. In her comments, she mentioned that for eight years, the ICC prosecutor’s office and “those countries that were now so involved in justice in Ukraine” ignored “the suffering of the residents of Donbass, who all this time were victims of the crimes of the Kyiv regime.”
