Toulouse. The Orchester du Capitole on American time in May –
cpatricenine/dr
Between Joseph Swensen and the Orchester national du Capitole is tied, there is
just twenty years old, a true story of musical friendship. The American musician returns to Toulouse on May 6 to conduct Gustav Mahler’s mythical Symphony No. 9, moving and twilight.
When trumpets, horns, trombones and other instruments of harmony meet film music… Under the direction of David Minetti, principal clarinet of the Orchester du Capitole, the brass instruments pay tribute to the original soundtracks ! For the Happy Hour concert on May 14, they will perform the most famous motifs from West Side Story, Hook, Gladiator or even La La Land.
Under the direction of American conductor Ryan Bancroft, there are then two major figures of “British” music. From God Save the Queen to quotes borrowed from Mozart, Elgar’s Enigma Variations offer musical treasure hunts as well as unforgettable themes. The American violinist Benjamin Beilman added Britten’s Violin Concerto to them. An exceptional virtuoso, he will put his extraordinary technique at the service of one of the great concertos of the 20th century.
Between church and opera, between drama and contemplation, Verdi’s Requiem
is a monument of sacred art. This epic masterpiece will be named
to the Finnish conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste for two concerts, in Toulouse then
at the Philharmonie de Paris.
