Leak of a chemical from a train north of Toulouse
An evening of firefighters intervened on a leak of a chemical product from a freight train north of Toulouse on Wednesday April 27.
About sixty firefighters were mobilized around a freight train after the triggering of an alarm signaling a leak of a chemical product north of Toulouse. The intervention at the Saint-Jory marshalling yard began in the afternoon and continued until early evening.
The product that escaped from the car was not clearly identified. As a precaution, “a security perimeter of 30 meters has been set up around the wagon”indicates the gendarmerie company of Toulouse Saint-Michel in the columns ofActu.fr.
The 65-tonne train, coming from the Lyon region, was heading towards Bordeaux. The intervention did not require the interruption of rail traffic, because the material was already being parked. Similarly, the interruption of traffic was not necessary.
Surveillance is lifted this Thursday, April 28, according to france blue. The leak would be the consequence of an overflow and the risks have now been eliminated. Two station employees were bothered by inhaling the product, which would have no serious consequences.
