The comet has a new trainer. Go to the training team
Five years ago, he left the championship hockey Comet, where he served as an assistant coach to the sinking Karlovy Vary, which had just relegated from the extra league to the first league. During his five-year plan in the spa town, the now 55-year-old strategist from the West Bohemian club created a regular participant in extra-league elimination fights. Now Martin Pešout is returning to Brno, the club announced on Thursday that it will replace Jiří Kalous in the role of head coach.

He is expected to improve the image of Comet, which has finished in the quarterfinals and preliminary rounds of the playoffs in the last two seasons. “It simply came to our notice then. We found a common language with Libor on this topic, we are working on it, “he told the club website Pešout.
His first engagement in Kometa took place in the years 2013 – 2017. In addition to a short anabase in the fall of 2015, he spent the rest of the Brno team as a coach at the substitution, where he did not miss the championship title in 2017. “It’s been a beautiful four years. As an assistant at the time, my colleagues and I achieved great success, first with Láďa Kýhos and then with Libor Zábranský, with whom we celebrated the title after eleven years. This cannot be forgotten, I only had great experiences from Comet and I believe that more will come, “said Pešout.
I was doing well in Kometa, but the reconstruction will take time, says Farewell Kalous
Despite the great distance of Karlovy Vary from Brno, he maintained brisk contact with Kometa and its owner Zábranský. Brno sent its young players to the west of Bohemia, led by Zábranský’s son of the same name, and Karlovy Vary even trained in Brno from time to time. “With the opportunities he had, he did a good job in Karlovy Vary. I dare not predict how he will perform in a team with far greater possibilities, “thought television expert David Pospíšil.
In the implementation team, the 55-year-old coach, who in the past also led Chomutov or the national team under the age of eighteen, will have Jiří Horáček in his hands, to whom the coach from abroad should be added. Walking is a fan of hockey based on fast skating. “I can’t even train other hockey. We will want to incorporate new modern elements into this, but I would not like to overtake that. Our whole goal is to play all-over hockey with a quick turn of the game, an emphasis on skating, for which you also need to have suitable types of players. I am glad that we are working on reinforcements that should fit into our system, “said Pešout. He will start dry training with his new charges on Monday and last until July 1. “It will be challenging, we emphasize that the players are as prepared as possible,” said the new Brno coach.
