Zurich Airport with 280,000 passengers close to a pre-corona level
Large crowds at the two major Swiss airports of Zurich and Geneva over the Easter holidays: three quarters of the passengers are back after two lean years during the corona pandemic.
From Good Friday to Easter Monday, Zurich-Kloten Airport handled an average of almost 70,000 passengers a day, as media spokeswoman Bettina Kunz said on Monday evening when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. That’s a total of 280,000 in four days, which corresponds to about 70 percent of the passenger volume in the period before the corona pandemic.
According to Jasmin Bodmer-Breu, also spokeswoman for Zurich-Kloten Airport, there were comparable passenger numbers for the last time on March 1, 2020. At Easter a year ago, Zurich Airport had an average of around 13,200 people per day, at Easter 2020 even only around 850.
Cointrin Airport in Geneva handled almost 180,000 passengers over the four Easter holidays. This corresponds to around 75 to 82 percent of the volume of Easter 2019. However, the airport had previously expected 187,000 passengers (sda)
