Tivoli in Copenhagen – Assessing safety after concert chaos
– I would say that safety always has the highest priority.
This is what spokesman for Tivoli in Copenhagen, Tobias Plank, says Danish BT after chaos broke out at Friday’s concert in the park.
While the concert was going on, the police are said to have received several reports of fights, and according to the newspaper, the concert had to stop for several minutes due to the chaos.
Police are also investigating a possible stabbing.
– Our security personnel are well trained and very experienced. I have also cooperated with the police in Copenhagen who had nothing to complain about security on Friday, says Plank.
Confiscated a lot of alcohol
The press officer temporarily admits that they do not carry out visits by all people who go through the gates.
– We take random checks, so we do not visit everyone, he says.
Thus, it was possible for several of those who were at the concert and who brought alcohol in the concert area.
Although he thinks the safety during the concerts in the amusement park is good enough, he also admits that it could have been better.
– There’s someone coming through the eye of the needle. We just have to admit that.
Evaluating new initiatives
The concert on Friday was one of several in a series of Friday concerts that will go through the season.
The chaos has led to the amusement park evaluating several measures for better safety.
– There is probably a lot we can take with us. For example, we can increase the number of random checks, says Plank.
Which measures Tivoli will introduce will only be decided after the evaluation meeting.
