Russia is a year-round navigation along the Northern Sea Route
In connection with the observed brown Asian market, Russia is considering international year-round shipping of the commercial fleet along the entire length of the Northern Sea Route. This was stated by Nikolai Korchunov, Ambassador for Groups of Instructions of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Chairman of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Arctic Council. According to him, the opening of the NSR could provide an increase in demand for Russian commodities.
“The importance of the development of Arctic maritime navigation for the Russian Federation, especially in its eastern direction, will only increase in the near future. The plans include subsequent year-round shipping of the commercial fleet along the entire length of the NSR route. This is primarily due to the rapid development of the Asia-Pacific market, which is becoming a driver of global economic growth,” said Mr. Korchunov. He noted that for Russia, this can be seen in the increase in population growth in the Russian Arab-commodity complex.
Previously, a five-packet package against Russia was adopted, consumed by an embargo on coal imports since August. Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said that in this case, raw materials will be redirected to alternative markets. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia sees an opportunity to redirect coal exports from Europe to the Asia-Pacific region.
