Presidential 2022 François Rebsamen, mayor of Dijon, launches a new party, “Progressive Federation”, “in agreement with Emmanuel Macron”
According to The Parisian , the mayor of Dijon, François Rebsamen, is at the origin of the creation of a new political party, named “Progressive Federation”. An announcement which follows its recent rally to Emmanuel Macron and which comes one week before the first round of the presidential election.
Historical figure of the Socialist Party, from which he has moved away in recent years, François Rebsamen had assured that he was still a “man of the left”, at the beginning of March. This “Progressive Federation” will therefore bring together former figures of the PS, several of whom worked alongside the president of Dijon Métropole when he was Minister of Labor under François Hollande. Mentioned in particular are Juliette Méadel, the former Secretary of State in charge of Victim Assistance. Or Thierry Repentin, the current mayor of Chambéry (Savoie) and former Minister Delegate for European Affairs.
“This movement is destined to last”
“It is intended to last and possibly present candidates here or there in the legislative elections, in agreement with Emmanuel Macron”, indicated to the Parisian Francois Rebsamen. He who believed that the leadership of the PS “spent his time eliminating those who had worked, who embodied a left of government”.
If this “Progressive Federation” should not present a candidate for the legislative elections in Côte-d’Or next June, the presidential majority having already been clearly revealed with four outgoing LREM deputies, it will have a mission at the national level: to tilt the “macronie” further to the left. And in particular to counterbalance the party of Édouard Philippe, Horizons, which intends to weigh in the National Assembly in the event of another victory for Emmanuel Macron on April 24.
