Optimization and super hospital: the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen is at the forefront of Europe – with video
Debrecen – Today, the exact diagnosis can be made at the Emergency Clinic within a few hours – said Zoltán Szabó, the president of the Clinical Center.
The Emergency Clinic of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, which was the first to be established, is celebrating its five-year existence. The institution has now become a high-level emergency education-research-healing center. Speaking on the occasion of the jubilee, Zoltán Szabó, President of the Clinical Center, will talk about current issues of health care in the Debrecen Television Public Affairs program.
The president said they are now able to work in much calmer conditions than in the midst of a pandemic. Work is underway at the Epidemiology Care Center, although fewer inpatients need to be cared for. However, their significant capacities were freed up and could be reversed to care for “non-Covid” patients.
“The lists are being shortened, and patients who have been waiting for various interventions will soon be called in,” he told the president. – A new need for intervention arises, and consultations can also be conducted through the electronic interface of the Dispatch Center and the Clinical Center.
In addition to the Clinic of Infectious Diseases, the Epidemiology Coordination Center was established. The aim is to monitor the process, consult with the National Center for Public Health and universities, and find appropriate, effective solutions to deal with and prevent a pandemic.
“We hope to provide great help at the center,” said Zoltán Szabó in the near future, adding that the Clinic of Infectious Diseases has provided a high standard of care to patients, achieving outstanding results nationwide.
As for the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, the country’s first independent Emergency Clinic, which was established five years ago, the initial number of fifteen thousand patients increased to forty thousand by 2021.
Expectations also increased with patient traffic, so last year the Emergency Clinic moved into the west wing of the former No. 1 Surgery Clinic. Thus, the capacity of patient care has quadrupled.
– The 4-bed inpatient provides emergency medical care at the critical medical level, and the state-of-the-art diagnostic X-ray, ultrasound, CT and laboratory guarantee the need for a rapid examination – said Zoltán Szabó.
An increase in the number of patients was expected, the professor pointed out. On the one hand, this could be expected because a one-door emergency admission system has been set up, so whether the patient arrives himself or is delivered by the ambulance service, he is received by the Emergency Clinic. The first examinations, the condition assessment and the directional diagnosis were performed here, after which the further treatments are decided. The other reason is that patients have noticed that anyone who arrives at the clinic will receive a high level of care in a short period of time, or even an accurate diagnosis can be made within hours, after which treatment can begin.
The President added that there had been significant improvements in emergency care in recent years.
– We do not have a department in inpatient care where bedside monitors, central monitor systems, various devices for ventilation, shock removal and resuscitation would not be available, – listed Zoltán Szabó. – care We also have a high level of medical background.
I am very proud that in recent years more and more young people are choosing the Emergency Clinic as their place of work. There are currently 112 people involved in day-to-day tasks – including about thirty doctors.
Zoltán Szabó said about the change of the Kenézy Campus University Hospital: the integration of the hospital into the clinical system means that it already includes more than six thousand employees, so one of the largest health care systems in the country has developed. Centralized oncology care was launched, and the Oncoradiology Clinic was launched. The gastroenterology and rheumatology clinics were established, and the rehabilitation clinic was moved to Campus. The D-building of the Internal Medicine Clinic was established in the same place, so this care also rose to a clinical level on Campus. But no energy set, continue the integration process because they are looking at areas where operations can be optimized because it works in parallel. The President cited surgery, obstetrics and rheumatology as examples.
“We also see opportunities for development in the field of clinical psychology,” he added. – It is important to plan the center of the area. The next step is to optimize obstetrics and gynecology care.
Speaking about the “super hospital” in Debrecen, Zoltán Szabó pointed out that the buildings of the current Nagyerdei Campus are almost a hundred years old. So there is a need for modernization, a large, cohesive clinical array to make it even easier to move patients.
Zoltán Szabó also added that he is optimistic about the future of Hungarian healthcare, because he is confident that more and more young people are recognizing the potential of developments. there are also examples of doctors working abroad returning home. He sees that if development continues, the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen could be at the forefront of Europe.
