Description: New information center for the construction of the high-speed line Prague – Dresden in Ústí nad Labem
In the subway at the main railway station in Ústí nad Labem, you will now find an information center for the construction of a high-speed line Prague – Dresden, which could shorten the journey between Prague and Ústí nad Labem according to train category up to thirty minutes. Estimated travel time to Dresden will then be less than sixty minutes. A number of information panels await you in the info center, which show the preparation of the cross-border high-speed line from various angles as well as the current staff ready to answer all your questions.
“The aim of opening this information center is to support the preparation of a high-speed line (VRT). In addition to information panels, visitors will also find a 3D model of the Ore Mountains and, thanks to intensive cooperation with German colleagues from the DB, examples of drilled rock obtained during exploring the subsoil of the future Ore Mountains Tunnel, “said Jiří Svoboda, General Manager of the Railway Administration.

The panels provide the most details about the individual preparations of VRT, but also a number of interesting facts about their impact on the environment and the economy. You can also expand your knowledge of artificial structures, especially bridges and tunnels or the principles of tracing completely new railways. The information center will be open only some days of the week, then every working day.
Another benefits
Building a network of high-speed lines is one of the largest transport projects in the coming decades. Moreover, it will not only be faster travel between Prague, Ústí nad Labem and Dresden. After the construction of the branch to Most, not only the western part of the Ústí nad Labem Region, but also the Karlovy Vary Region will see a significant improvement in transport services.
The construction will also include two passenger transport terminals, enabling transfers between long-distance and regional trains, as well as between other means of public and individual transport. In the south of the Ústí nad Labem region, it is the Roudnice nad Labem VRT terminal and in the area of the existing Ústí nad Labem West railway station, it is the Ústí nad Labem center terminal.

The preparation of sub-sections of high-speed railways in the Czech Republic has already advanced to the next phase, in which the Railway Administration, together with the designers, is creating detailed documentation for zoning decisions. In the case of the Prague – Ústí nad Labem – Dresden line, there are two sections at this stage. This is the Podřipsko VRT between Prague and Lovosice and the cross-border Krušné hory tunnel, which the Railway Administration processes together with the German railways. Information center on the German side
A similar contact center, which has now opened in Ústí nad Labem, is planned to set up a German railway infrastructure manager on the Saxon side of the border.
“I am very glad that our partners from the Railway Administration have created an information center for those who want a new project about our joint project. Dialogue, acceptance and transparent information are essential for the success of European transport projects. The new information center in Ústí nad Labem is therefore of great importance. DB will also set up a similar contact center on the German side to meet the ever-growing interest in the new Dresden-Prague line, ”said Marcus Schenkel, Head of Infrastructure Projects for DB Netz.

Cross-border nature trail
The railway administration, Deutsche Bahn and the Saxon Ministry of Economics, Labor and Transport also plan to build a cross-border nature trail with a high-speed line. It will cross the state border in the same places as the planned high-speed Ore Mountains Tunnel, which with a length of about 30 km will become the longest tunnel in Central Europe.
The trail should use information boards to show tourists the preparation of this construction and also return the myths about which appear in public space. The current route of the trail is still working. Its final form is determined by the work teams together with the Czech Tourists Club and its Saxon times. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the Ore Mountains tunnel, which will connect the Czech and German high-speed networks.
On January 17, the teams of the Railway Administration, the DB and the Saxon Ministry passed the proposed route of the nature trail, which will cross the state border in the same places as the planned high-speed Ore Tunnel. High speed rail
High-speed rail is part of everyday life in most developed countries, some for decades. In Europe, trains reach speeds of up to 320 km / h, thanks to which they can also compete with air transport at medium distances. High-speed rail also includes fast regional express trains, which significantly speed up daily commuting to and from large cities and very remote regions.
The high-speed railway in the Czech Republic will be operated in the Fast Connections (RS) system. It is an operational-infrastructure system of fast railways, which includes, in addition to new high-speed lines, modernized conventional lines with high-speed parameters and other modernized lines, also the corresponding vehicle fleet and operating concept.
