Kompatscher in Vienna, constructive exchange with Rome
(ANSA) – BOLZANO, MARCH 16 – The President of the Province Arno Kompatscher met the President of the Republic Alexander Van der Bellen and the chancellor Karl Nehammer in Vienna. The governor stressed that relations with the Italian government on the issue are based on constructive exchange. In this context, the exchange of information with the institutions of the Republic of Austria is fundamental in order to agree on a way to proceed by sharing on issues of common interest, he reiterated.
During the meetings, Kompatscher had the negative consequences that the 2001 constitutional reform had for South Tyrolean autonomy. Especially the ruling on the subject by the Constitutional Court has had negative repercussions on the legislative competences of the Province of Bolzano, from which some problematic situations have resulted, which will probably be only the first of a series. Such interpretations would undermine the powers of South Tyrol, since they give the State a general superordinate competence, so that the autonomous legislative competence of South Tyrol would be overridden. “In the talks I had in Rome I have always pointed out that with respect to some ambitions we are well below the 1992 standards.
We cannot accept that the autonomous legislative competence of South Tyrol is interpreted in a restrictive way “, stressed Kompatscher.” We expect that adequate corrective measures will follow, “he added. It is no coincidence that Austria has issued the release receipt 30 years ago on the basis of the standards that were then achieved and consolidated.
The war and the flow of refugees were also the subject of both talks, in particular with regard to how European politics must react to this. In view of the general increase in prices, some possible measures have been evaluated, particularly concerning the energy sector. (HANDLE).
