Major inspection carried out with a focus on driving ability
A total of 177 vehicles and their occupants were checked over several hours at various locations in the Dübendorf area and on the A15. The police officers registered a total of 148 violations of the Road Traffic Act and other laws.
A total of 98 speed drivers were stopped during speed measurements. Due to the high speed limit, two drivers are reported to the public prosecutor’s office and two to the governor. A fine was issued to the remaining vehicle drivers. Violations of working and rest times were found in five drivers who carried out commercial passenger transport. Minor to major technical defects were identified in 22 vehicles. Four vehicle drivers had to be reported to the governor’s office due to unauthorized technical modifications. The other vehicle drivers were asked to fix the defects immediately within a certain period of time.
In terms of criminal investigation, the police officers stopped a 32-year-old Egyptian. He is suspected of having entered the country illegally and having stayed in Switzerland illegally. After being questioned by the police, he is brought to the public prosecutor’s office.
Fines were issued for further violations of the Road Traffic Act and the Narcotics Act.
Traffic and criminal police checks have shown that the drivers checked complied with the regulations regarding driving ability. On the other hand, a number of speeders were stopped and vehicles that did not comply with the technical regulations were stopped.
