Prague is preparing for Ukrainian refugees. It can accommodate up to five thousand
The capital is dealing with assistance to Ukrainian refugees in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior. For example, it has hotels available to them that the city used during the coronavirus crisis for the homeless.
In terms of capacity in the field of education, there are 160 beds available. The CTU dormitories in Bubeneč, which can accommodate up to a thousand people, can also be used.
Should an emergency situation arise, the city is able to provide the Strahov Stadium for refugees, which must be equipped first, so it is not available immediately.
At the same time, in the event of a major migration wave, Prague is ready to activate the assistance center, which it has prepared since 2009.
In addition to accommodation, Prague is also ready for transport.

“A center where people could come would start operating in the Municipal Library and its branches, and we would deal with their temporary documents or provide medical assistance,” said Deputy Mayor Petr Hlubuček.
The capital is also cooperating with a Prague transport company that is able to replace 1,100 buses for transporting refugees from detention facilities. It is possible to choose 36 units of volunteer firefighters with equipment.
Deputy Mayor Hlubuček also assumes that a consular center will be established at the border between the Slovak Republic and Ukraine, which will issue permits for refugees to get to the Czech Republic.
“Prague is ready to help immediately, either financially or materially,” Hlubuček emphasized.
