Josephine Hsieh and Sunniva Lien Olsen combine life as performing musicians with pedagogical positions in Nittedal Cultural School. When the two colleagues now do their first full-night concert together, they have chosen a third female musician as the theme; Clara Schumann.
Triangle drama
Clara Schumann (1819-1896) was an outstanding concert pianist and among the most significant female composers in German romance. She was already from a number of years considered a leading pianist, she traveled on several tours and her concerts became hugely popular. Eventually, Clara married Robert Schumann, and they had eight children together. Johannes Brahms became a close friend of both Clara and Robert Schumann, and an important support for Clara after Robert’s death.
It is the music composed by these three – Clara, Robert and Johannes – that fills the classic on March 1st. In addition to singing and piano playing, by the audience on history and anecdotes.
Competent duo
Sunniva Lien Olsen has studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and has a master’s degree in classical singing from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen, where she graduated with the best grade. This led to admission to the soloist class, where the final exam consisted of a public debut concert in 2013 in Christianskirken in Copenhagen. She has since appeared in a number of operas and given several solo concerts. For the past six years he has had summer concerts with the pianist Mai Goto under the direction of Grieg in Bergen.
Josephine Hsieh has an impressive music education from the USA and Norway, and has won several international awards. She moved to Hakadal several years ago and has been central during several classics in Flammen, not least when the Steinway grand piano was inaugurated with Grieg’s A minor concerto. She also played with Arve Tellefsen and the couple Cardas, and she was absolutely central during the big Winter Festival in January.
