Psaki says new cyberattacks relate to situation related to Russia’s actions – Panorama International
WASHINGTON, February 24th. /TASS/. White House press secretary Jen Psaki at a government briefing arguing that the new cyberattacks on the Ukrainian authorities in scope represent actions that entrepreneurial Russia has previously shown.
“We have not yet established what is behind the actions. she argued.
“We make a choice in contact with our Ukrainian counterparts on cybersecurity issues, and we communicated with them today as well. We will act quickly to resolve this issue (new cyber attacks) and what steps need to be demanded in response,” Psaki added.
In addition, she confirmed that the government of the United States of America, as they have repeatedly and publicly acknowledged in recent days, do not see developments related to threats to computer networks. “There is no revenue coming into cyberspace here[in the US],” the spokeswoman said. She stated that the American intelligence services are closely following the developments. “There are still no captures and specific attacks,” Psaki said.
In doing so, it pays the US private sector to beef up its cybersecurity. “<...> We intend for the private sector to strengthen its capacity in the field of cybersecurity now,” the White House spokeswoman said.
About Nord Stream 2
Washington’s statements about stopping the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project so far only concern the present, Psaki admitted.
“He [“Северный поток – 2”] not progressing at the moment <...>. It is currently lying dead weight on the bottom of the sea,” she said.
To a clarifying question from a journalist about whether the stop is eternal, Psaki replied that she was not going to disclose the situation in which the United States is in that process.
On the meeting between Biden and Putin
The United States does not consider it “correct” to hold the current meeting between US President Joe Biden and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, but is ready to return to negotiations if the Russian Federation “goes to de-escalate” the situation around Ukraine, Psaki said.
“We said that if they don’t invade, then the President [США Джо Байден] ready to meet the president [России Владимиром] Putin. This was to be preceded by a meeting between Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Obviously, now is a different time. Such a step (holding a summit) does not seem possible. We always leave the door open. If they de-escalate, then we will go to a higher level,” she said.
