The so-called digital campus was opened in the ver.di courtyards in Hanover on Tuesday. It is the start of a nationwide education offensive for adults.
The aim is to offer everyone in the state an educational opportunity “so that they can find their way around in everyday digital life,” said Lower Saxony’s Economics Minister Bernd Althusmann (CDU). At the state level, the Ministry of Economics and Culture have therefore announced the “Digital Campus Lower Saxony” program, for which a funding volume of five million euros is available.
In the future, citizens will be able to produce content themselves
Various providers of adult education in Lower Saxony can take part – as the project of the education center of the trade union ver.di shows. Studio rooms were created as part of the program. According to the information, every citizen can probably lend a hand there – for example to produce digital talk shows or podcasts.

The project in Hanover is the start of a total of six nationwide projects, according to the ver.di spokeswoman. There are big differences in digital skills in the population.
