RECONSTRUCTION OF BARRANDA: He’s GOING TO THE RIGID
Today, we presented to the mayors and councilors for the transport of city districts what enormous efforts we have made with colleagues from TSK Prague in the last three years to prepare for the reconstruction of the Barrandov Bridge.
We have shown in detail the individual stages, including detours. Work will begin in the first half of May and will last until the second half of August.
We withdrew it from the eight months expected by the designer to three and a half. Mainly due to the massive deployment of technology and almost non-stop work of workers. It won’t be easy anyway, even though there will always be 3 + 3 lanes on the bridge.
What awaits us in the first stage?
- Closed ramp from Strakonická to Barrandov Bridge
- Closed southern half of the bridge towards the South Junction
- One lane from Smíchov to the South Junction will be transferred in the opposite direction
- From Barranďák to Modřanská, one lane will lead to a newly expanded ramp with three lanes
- One lane will lead to the bridge from Modřanská
Let’s pour some clear wine. We know from the models that there will be more columns and they will last longer. They will be elsewhere than where we would expect them for the first good. The center and other areas of the city will be congested – Prague 4, 5 or 12. We must also count on greater regulation of tunnels. Let’s keep in mind that Barranďák has been serving honestly for almost 40 years without repair.
Now it’s our turn to add a little to the mill. We have to grit our teeth. It won’t be easy, but we’re all on the same ship. We have done everything to make Prague ready for the reconstruction of the century. It is inevitable. It has been flowing into the bridge for years, and the pre-tensioned ropes that hold it together do not fulfill their function at all. The situation is serious.
What did we do for the smoothest possible course?
- Three years of designing, diagnosing or selecting a contractor, which we competed for the first time in the history of TSK so that the length of traffic restrictions had the same weight as the price
- Traffic models, search for weak points and their subsequent modifications
- Challenging construction seasons in recent years – repaired South Junction, Modřanská, Wilsonova, Štěrboholská Radial, Chodovská, Novodvorská, including repairs to the bridge at Barrandov Junction and more
- In agreement with the city district, we will also open a closed level crossing on the Prague ring road near Písnice
- There will be 24/7 tow trucks ready on the bridge on both sides, no matter what happens, it must be passable as soon as possible.
All this led to the first half of May and the reconstruction of the Barrandov Bridge. 144,000 cars drive it every day. Mostly with Praguers. Some call it political suicide, I call it responsible city administration. I will not allow the second Genoa or the Trojan Footbridge. Thank you to all the drivers for your patience.
