Firefighters received information about the fire in the hall measuring 70 times 15 meters on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, before three o’clock in the morning. Dozens of firefighters from the Central Bohemian Region and Prague gathered for the place at that time, and heavy equipment from Zbiroh and Hlučín was also called in. Due to the size of the fire, firefighters declared the third of four levels of fire alarm, inside the cylinders exploded.
Our friend and colleague Jan Odermatt died five years ago.
He died after an intervention in Zvolen near Prague, where a paint shop fire broke out. 35 units of firefighters were deployed, who destroyed the flames for 36 hours.

36 hours and in the end 35 fire brigades lasted on it. Already on Tuesday evening, the body of one of the employees who had been missing since the night was found in the burning building. Eventually, several ceiling panels collapsed in part of the building and no one was allowed into the building. Firefighters could only extinguish from the outside of high-altitude technology. Another paint shop worker was injured, her face and hand burned.

Firefighter Jan Odermatt was also injured during the operation and was taken to Kladno hospital. The damage caused amounted to approximately 100 million crowns.
