Russia most likely will not take part in the meeting requested by Kiev to disseminate information about Russian troops on the borders with Ukraine, which will take place on February 15. This is reported by Kommersant, citing sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“On Monday afternoon, the Russian Foreign Ministry found out that the decision regarding the inclusion of February 15 has not yet been included, but most likely Russia will not participate in it,” the newspaper writes.
Ukraine gave Russia 48 hours to respond about exercises on the border
Earlier, on February 13, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced his intention to convene a meeting. He pointed out that Moscow did not respond to Kiev’s call to explain military activities along the country’s borders and in Crimea in accordance with the Vienna Document, therefore Ukraine requested a meeting with the participation of Russia and all participating states in the next 48 hours.
Vienna Document accepted implementation in 2011. According to its provisions, a country may require an explanation in case of emergency or unplanned activities of another state. After receiving a response from the state that sent the request, the meeting with the responding country can be returned. 48 hours for the meeting. Other countries may also participate. The meeting will be chaired by the country in question, which is currently Poland.
