The inhabitants of Přízřenice in Brno are rioting against the massive construction of flats
Locals do not agree with the construction of more than three hundred cooperative flats in the Přízřenice district of Brno. They fear deteriorating living conditions, traffic congestion and a lack of parking spaces and sidewalks. Dozens of locals carried came to express their disagreement with the planned exhibition on Tuesday at a public hearing, which took place on the premises of Brno-South City Hall.

Deterioration of the environment, increased noise, dust and traffic bother René Turk, who lives in the local Moravanská Street. “Right across the street, I will have two- to three-story buildings full of apartments that are taller than the houses of the natives, which does not fit into the village character at all. Each of the tenants will have a car or two, which will put even more strain on traffic and parking in Přízřenice, “the man said.
The missing engineering networks and sewers were criticized by the local Jakub Holas. “The zoning study for the project indicates how the roads and sewers are to be managed, and this does not agree at all with the original or the new zoning plan. The massive development does not correspond to this either. Apartment buildings are unnecessarily glued to each other and do not use the entire area designated for construction. In addition, the construction of the networks will start further construction in the locality, “says Holas.

According to the designer Petr Pelčák, the passive construction meets the current and planned plan. “When planning the block development, we follow the valid legislation and standards. The area is exhausted below the limit. We could easily design five-storey buildings there, but we take into account the objections of the locals and there will only be two-storey sustainable apartment buildings with minimal consumption for operation, “said Pelčák.
The architect Jakub Hanž added that there will be enough parking spaces in the place. In addition, the construction will support civic amenities. “In total there will be 450 parking spaces, which is much more than apartments. 321 parking spaces are located underground under the courtyard. The rest is solved as longitudinal parking at the house. In addition, the design envisages the construction of a playground for children, a shop, a bistro and other services that will serve all residents, “added the architect.
Brno is in danger of shrinking: in Přízřenice they are considering secession due to the massive construction
According to the mayor’s deputy for housing Jiří Oliva, the project will help young families in particular. “Cooperative flats are a chance to get their own housing for people with lower incomes who do not get a classic mortgage. When planning the construction, we always try to find a balance between public and private interest, so that it stands, but it did not worsen the life of the locals. On the other hand, if nothing could ever change, nothing would ever stand up, “said the deputy.
According to the Deputy Mayor of Brno-South David Grund, Brno is catching up in terms of housing costs. “If we do not build, rental prices will continue to rise. I recommend giving people the opportunity for decent housing with sustainable costs. We do not support developers, so we have modified the object. We moved its borders and left an alley to create more space between the new and older buildings, “said the deputy mayor.
