Unique South Moravian: He trains life saving in a special center

Sugar Mizzy January 28, 2022

The Rožnovsko dog shelter functions as a social company. It helps animals and people

“A simulated scenario is needed for simulated scenarios. And we didn’t get that until eight years after 2013, when we started training and only worked in the basement. Thanks to the new center, equipped with modern technology and simulators, we can now create very realistic and plausible scenarios and situations for training, ”he explains.

According to Kubalová, trainers find it easier to remember individual procedures through emotions and illustrative situations, which will improve their work with real patients.

Training apartment and traffic accident simulator

A training apartment, a fully equipped standard ambulance, a traffic accident simulator and a climbing wall are used for training rescuers in the building. The technical equipment of the premises also makes it possible to record the work of the teams in all training rooms and then evaluate it in detail with the lecturer when releasing the shots. However, a building loaded with modern technologies requires more training from lecturers than before.

“Before each training, we have to compile a scenario and program simulators according to it, prepare projected images and all the necessary equipment. Although it is more demanding, the current trend to try investigations on simulators is much safer than it was years ago, when this option was not yet available, “the deputy said.

A tour of the training apartment looks the same as a visit to a normal apartment – there is a kitchen equipped with appliances, a bathroom with karma, a toilet, a living room and a children’s corner. When training simulated situations with an injury or illness of a patient, a group of trainers moves around the training apartment, while the lecturer monitors her actions on a monitor.

According to the given scenario, injured persons are placed in the apartment in the form of mannequins – advanced trainers. They have a whole family here – a baby, a small child, an adult and a pregnant woman.

“They are technically and software very advanced simulators. They can mimic the patient’s condition and reactions. “

Against the earlier mannequins, I show many current advanced features. “They are technically and software very advanced simulators. They can faithfully imitate the patient’s condition and reactions. The lecturer no longer has to interfere in any way during the training, “said the deputy.

This training greatly increase. “For example, we simulate the patient’s incipient cyanosis by programming a blue light. The simulator can also mimic breathing, including various pathological situations. Simulators allow you to feel the pulse, control the functions of the pupils, change the rate of heart action and many others, “says Kubalová.

Saving lives is also practiced on the climbing wall on the ground floor of the building, where complicated terrain can be imitated. A traffic simulator is also used for training. “Sometimes paramedics are at the scene of an accident before other IRS units, and I have to deal with the rapid rescue of people from the car myself. That is why this simulator has a great application, “provides the deputy.

Large white areas on the wall are noticeable in two places in the building. “We project images on them and show different situations. For example, we projected a photo of a block of flats with an open window on the fifth floor on the wall. And “as if under the window” lay the patient – our simulator, representing a person falling out of the window, “he outlines.

During the year, the center runs a large number of courses and training not only for paramedics, but also for doctors, ambulance drivers, operators and students – future paramedics from Masaryk University.

“Every year before the start of the courses, we also train our lecturers. There are about three dozen of them, “concludes the deputy ambulance.

Rescue Director: During the training, we simulate the situation quite reliably

Since January 2020, the Medical Rescue Service of the South Moravian Region has had a new education and training center available in Brno’s Bohunice, built and equipped thanks to an 81 million subsidy from EU funds.

Hana Albrechtová, director of the Medical Rescue Service of the South Moravian Region, presented interesting facts about the modern training center for South Moravian rescuers.

Doctor Hana AlbrechtováDoctor Hana AlbrechtováSource: ZZS JmKHow did the education of the emergency services of the Emergency Medical Service of the South Moravian Region work in the period before the construction of the Education and Training Center of the Emergency Medical Service of the South Moravian Region? What reasons made the region strive for a large European subsidy for this construction?
Before the construction of the new center, we had a lecture hall available for teaching, where theory was taught. We used cellars for practical training. The conditions were cramped, unsatisfactory, we did not have the opportunity to use audiovisual technology. More than 600 employees had to be trained, and capacity was insufficient. The reasons were the above, but most of all we are obliged by law to provide employee training, and we care that it is at the highest possible level.

What do you think was the most challenging part of the whole project of the new center and its implementation?
For me, I guess the condition for granting the subsidy, which stipulated that the training center must be directly connected to the departure base. So it was necessary to combine construction with the functioning of the site so that normal operation was not disrupted in any way. Fortunately, we succeeded.

How are the centre’s premises divided and what can be trained in them?
There is a climbing wall on the ground floor, where procedures are practiced at height and above free depth. There is also a traffic accident simulator, where you can practice, among other things, rescuing patients from the vehicle. One floor above the classroom and on the third floor we can boast of an absolute rarity. With the help of firefighters, we managed to pick up an ambulance here with a crane. It is fully equipped and serves to teach the provision of pre-hospital emergency care for various disabilities. Then there is the room to create “the most realistic conditions for the intervention”. We have not forgotten about emergency training either, there is a special XVR room set aside for him.

“On the third floor we can boast of absolute rarity. With the help of firefighters, we managed to pick up an ambulance here with a crane. It is fully equipped and used for teaching. “

What modern technologies and devices is the new center equipped with?
We have a family of advanced simulators, three Sim Many, one of them with the possibility of ultrasound examination, the simulator of the mother Sim Mom, the simulator of the child Sim Junior and the simulator of the newborn. The simulator behaves almost like a real patient, who communicates through a lecturer and everything important can be examined and life-saving procedures can be performed on it. In addition, the rooms are a camera system, the records are then used to provide quality feedback.

Other IRS units also train with you. What do they praise the most?
In addition to training our employees, we use the center mainly for the training of future colleagues, ie students, drivers and operators. Police use the polygon for work at heights. I think that everyone especially appreciates how credibly we can simulate individual situations.

The education and training center of the Emergency Medical Service of the South Moravian Region has been operating for two years now, ie at the time of the covid pandemic… How did this situation affect your training center?
Shortly after the center opened, we were restrained by a covid. If the measures allowed, we carried out full-time teaching, mostly moving to the online environment.

Looking back at how the center works so far, what have you accomplished in it? And what else do you plan in it?
I am certainly pleased, among other things, that the new center makes it good for us to organize our own accredited courses for emergency services operators and drivers. Plan? We are mainly looking forward to not being limited by the covid, that everything, including teaching, will return to normal.
