The Czech Republic is donating thousands of cannonball to Ukraine
PRAGUE – Help from the Kiev government, citing Russia’s military forces along the Ukrainian border.
The Czech Republic will donate about 4,000 cannonballs to Ukraine worth 37 million crowns (544 million forints), the Czech government decided on Wednesday.
“Our cooperation with Ukraine has long been supported, we are supporting it on the path to democracy. In addition to political and diplomatic means, we can also provide concrete support, as evidenced by this donation. We see this as an important gesture of solidarity,”
According to the ministry, the Czech Republic is sending 4006 pieces of 152 millimeter cannonball to the Ukrainians as gifts.
“The government has asked for help. The purpose of the gift is to strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s large military forces who are jumping on the border.”
The 152-mm projectiles are used by the Czech army for cannon barrels called DANA. However, this projectile will no longer be used in the Czech army’s new cannons procured from France, which will require 155 millimeter projectiles. Cannons of this caliber are also used by the armies of most NATO countries.
