Prague – Deputies could discuss the government’s amendment to the pandemic law today and the possibility of declaring an extraordinary director’s leave due to the coid-19. The Cabinet wants the House to approve the drafts expeditiously in a state of legislative emergency. The committees will meet them in the morning. The plenary session continues in the afternoon.
In the case of the Pandemic Act, the amendment repealed the current time limits on the validity of its key parts on issuing extraordinary measures to limit the spread of the new coronavirus until the end of February. According to the draft, the restrictions will be able to cover a wider range of activities than now, and the authorities will be able to order the testing of, for example, entrepreneurs, students, pupils and preschoolers, not only employees and other staff. By law, public health protection authorities will be able to notify people of isolation or quarantine by telephone or short text message. The Ministries of Defense and Interior will also be able to issue measures for their ministries.
In the case of a large number of quarantined teachers, the proposed government law will give school principals the power to declare special director’s leave or distance learning for up to ten days. Parents will be entitled to nursing allowance at this time. At present, directors can decide on up to five days a year. They could declare special leave if the school is temporarily unable to provide distance learning due to the spread of the disease.
