The Federation Council revealed Britain’s motives for inviting Shoigu to London Russian news EN
Senator Alexei Pushkov revealed Britain’s motives for inviting Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to visit London. He spoke about this in an interview with newspaper “Sight”.
According to him, Britain took a step because of the threat of failure to cross Moscow with Washington and NATO on a security guarantee. A member of the Federation Council noted that London fears the emergence of a pre-conflict situation with Russia, therefore, the dynamics of negotiations at the bilateral level is being resumed.

In addition, Pushkov noted that, apparently, the British authorities decided to behave extraordinary in the conditions of other European countries, which were excluded from the dialogue with Russia on security issues. He added that in London, instead of intimidation and threats, they decided to offer Moscow some kind of coordinated cooperation. However, the senator called London’s proposal more of a “diplomatic move” than a change of heart.
Earlier, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said that director Shoigu was visiting London. “I visited my Russian colleague Sergei Shoigu in London in the next few weeks. We are ready to consider issues related to common security risks,” said the UK Secretary of Defense.
