in Côte-d’Or and Dijon, contamination is increasing and hospitalizations are changing in sawtooth
If “the decline has begun”, for Arnaud Fontanet, epidemiologist at the Institut Pasteur, this is still not the case in Côte-d’Or. Indeed, the latest figures published by Public Health France still show a progression of the epidemic, in particular at the level of the incidence rate, which makes it possible to measure the rate of contamination in a territory.
Thus, this incidence rate is 2,875.5 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants according to figures released Monday by Public Health France. The data published on Sunday indicated an incidence rate of 2,775.3 per 100,000. The Côte-d’Or is therefore dangerously close to the symbolic milestone of 3,000 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a figure which would then be unprecedented.
Regionally, the incidence rate is slightly lower at 2,461.7 per 100,000 (Sunday’s data showed 2,359.8/100,000).
Fewer patients this Monday in Côte-d’Or, but more in the region
As for hospitalizations, the number of patients still fails to stabilize. This Monday, there are three fewer people in the hospitals of the department, or 208 patients sick with Covid-19. Among them, 43 are in critical care or intensive care units (one less than yesterday).
In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, however, the number of patients is increasing sharply: there are 24 more people in health establishments, i.e. 1,045 patients. And 159 are in critical care or intensive care units (-1 in 24 hours).
Four deaths in Côte-d’Or on Monday
According to statements from Public Health France, four people have died of Covid-19 in Côte-d’Or in the last 24 hours. But as after each weekend, where the workforce is generally less important in the hospital, reports of figures may exist. Thus, since the start of the epidemic, 1,037 people have died in hospitals in Côte-d’Or.
In the region, 15 people died of the coronavirus on Monday. The death toll for hospitals is 5,451 since March 2020.
