Christian Eriksen | Denmark won the fair play award for saving Christian Eriksen’s life
The terrible instantly shook the football world. Christian Eriksen fell over with cardiac arrest during Denmark’s European Championship match against Finland at home in the Park this summer.
Eriksen’s life was saved, after medical personnel rushed to. Eriksen’s teammates shielded him from the outside world while the games worked to save him.
Monday night was Denmark’s national team, incl. players, support staff and the medical team honored at FIFA’s annual “The Best” gala. They received the fair play prize, which has been awarded since 1987. The reason was the way they handled the cardiac arrest, both by shielding Eriksen and that they saved him.
The manager of the Danish national team, Christian Nørkjær, received the award on behalf of all those involved.
– I want to thank people from all over the world for the support we received. I do not know how we keep calm. We tried our best and are like one big family. The price is for the whole of Denmark, which stood shoulder to shoulder.

At the gala, the Danish and Finnish supporters also received the fan award for how they praised Eriksen while the drama was going on. The two fans shouted Eriksen’s name as support in a symbol of unity.
Christian Eriksen has still not been on the field after the cardiac arrest. He has had heart starters operated on, which meant that he could no longer play for Inter, due to the regulations in Italy.
He is now without a contract, but on Monday The Athletic wrote that he is in talks with Brentford in the Premier League. A six-month agreement must be current.
