Police officers from PMJ Prague drove a Mercedes driver with a driving ban
Police detained a driver of a motor vehicle who tried to drive away because he was banned from driving. In addition, he refused to undergo both a drug test and an alcohol test.
On Wednesday afternoon, police officers chased a motorized emergency unit from a driver who refused to stop the patrol and submit to a roadside check. Instead, he stepped on the accelerator and at high speed on Dobronická Street towards Kunratice.
During the journey, other road users were endangered in the opposite direction or dangerous overtaking. The Viennese and Dobronická roundabout in Prague 4, which failed to drive and became a driver on the way out, entered the driver’s fate after several kilometers of pursuit. He did not give up there either and continued to drive several tens of meters across the grass off the road.
However, the police prevented him from further driving, and the man subsequently ended up in handcuffs. The police then found out the reason for his actions. He had nothing to do behind the wheel, as he was barred from driving by the court until February 2023. The driver refused to undergo both an alcohol test and a drug test on the spot.
The case is being investigated on suspicion of obstructing the execution of an official decision and expulsion, for which, if convicted, it faces up to two years in prison. In a separate proceeding, the man will then be held liable for his offenses committed during the persecution and for refusing alcohol and drug tests.
