Ryabkov: Russia cannot trust NATO, which led to its security guarantee initiative – Politics
MOSCOW, January 13. / TASS /. The Moscow Initiative on security guarantees put forward earlier conclusions about the impossibility of trusting the North Atlantic Alliance. This was stated by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov on Thursday in an interview. RTVI…
“History has no subjunctive mood, and the president of Russia” [Владимир Путин]who gave the Foreign Ministry the task to urgently reach an agreement on legally binding security guarantees, just formulated the lesson we all learned from the past: to believe in a period when people in NATO and in NATO countries simply do not work out, “the deputy minister said.
“This time has passed, it is over. The time of half-tones is left behind, the time of illusions has long been in the deep past. We will not cry over spilled milk, this is frivolous and undignified,” Ryabkov added. According to him, Russia needs to look to the future and form a security sphere that is optimal for the country and requires its development.
The deputy minister added that Moscow should not worry about the processes within NATO, the main thing is the resulting response to the initiatives of the public. “NATO appears as such a black box: you upload it once, and what will happen at the output can probably be predicted, but impossible to get,” Ryabkov added.
On December 17, 2021, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft treaties with the United States on security guarantees, as well as the parties on security measures for Russia and the member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Consultations on this matter were held on January 10 in Geneva, on January 12 a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council was held in Brussels.
