Census Prague: 1.3 million people, most foreigners and an average age of 41.4 years
The census took place last year from March 27 to May 11, the published data are as of the first day of the census event. During the census, the CZSO worked with the so-called usual residence, ie the place where a person actually lives and stays most of the time, even though he may have a permanent residence reported elsewhere.
According to published data, the largest number of foreigners lived in Prague, namely 13.9 percent against the national average of 4.7 percent. A total of 44,309 people indicated foreign citizenship from EU countries and 132,897 from outside the Union. Most people applied for Ukrainian nationality, namely 54 233. Another 24 151 inhabitants stated Slovak, 22 719 Russian, 12 670 Vietnamese, 2162 Polish and 1652 German.
The share is also the highest in the metropolis university-educated people, who reached 35.9 percent. The total share of the population with a university degree in the republic was 18.7 percent. About 30.8 percent of the metropolitan population identified themselves as believers, and 16.2 percent professed to be a church, most often Roman Catholic.
Slightly fewer men lived in the capital, as in the whole republic, there were 94.8 per 100 women. There were 199,424 children under the age of 14, 863,087 between the ages of 15 and 64, and 238,978 seniors over the age of 65. The average age of women was 42.8 years and men 39.9 years. Prague was also the most single, with 40.8 percent of Praguers married in marriage. For example, in the neighboring Central Bohemian Region it was 47.7 percent.
Last year, 107,513 houses were counted in the metropolis, which was 7564 more than in the last census ten years ago. Most of them, namely 73,226, are actually natural persons.
The population has grown
On a national average, the population has increased over the last ten years. Last year, more than 10.52 million of them lived in the country, 87,600 more. half of them lived in four regions, namely in Prague, Central Bohemia, South Moravia and Moravia-Silesia. The average population of the republic was 42.7 years. In the decade, it has aged 1.7 years.
The census is held every ten years, not only in the Czech Republic. It allows you to map the situation in each country and compare it. While many countries obtain from their registers and interview only a sample of several thousand people, in the Czech Republic all the inhabitants had to participate. The Czechia did not have registers from which the necessary information could be obtained.
