Toulouse: the welds of the Téléo cable car deemed compliant, commissioning still scheduled for April 2022
The cable car test phase continues in Toulouse. At the same time, a body independent from the manufacturer Poma assessed the welds of the five pylons and concluded that they were compliant. The cable car is due to be put into service in April 2022.
The entry into service of the Téléo cable car, which links the Oncopole to Paul-Sabatier University, via Rangueil hospital, is getting closer. On December 14 and 15, an independent control of the manufacturer was carried out by the company Groupe Institut de Soudure, Tisséo indicated this Thursday, January 13.
This in-depth final check, transcribed in a report which will be attached to the structure’s safety file, made it possible to conclude that the welds on all of the Téléo cable car pylons were compliant.
Magnetic particle detection
The Welding Institute Group carried out these checks using the magnetic particle inspection technique, which consists in subjecting the pylons to a magnetic flux, which makes it possible to detect any microcracks, without dismantling the structure.
“The test and control process is therefore continuing as planned, with the objective of
in service, under controlled safety conditions, by the start of the second quarter of 2022 “, specifies Tisséo.
A few weeks ago, the terminal phase of the Téléo project was initiated, taken by two steps
particularly important parallels.
The prefect must give the final authorization to open to the public
On the one hand, the tests carried out by the manufacturer Poma on all the elements constituting the
transport. On the other hand, the checks carried out by specialized bodies, approved by the State, independent of the manufacturer.
The final stage consists in obtaining the authorization of opening to the public by the prefect. This authorization is requested by Tisséo and is issued with regard to the safety file.
