Budapest supremacy – a note by Gábor Thury

“I love you Erzsi, dude or János, there is only one team, Ferencváros!” The National Association of Sports Associations (SOSZ) has compiled the order of the clubs based on the Olympic, World and European Championship performances, and Gyula Deák is certainly not right now: the Budapest Honvéd leads the line before the FTC, UTE, Vasas, BVSC-Zugló , MTK for further order.
The answer is very simple, István Gergely, the president of the association, sheds light on why the red and white people are in the lead from a sports professional and human point of view, adding that the favorable infrastructural situation of Bp. Honvéd cannot be ignored either. The latter also characterizes the other associations in the capital, and the population of Budapest is also outstanding in the country, ergo the possibility of immersion. Clubs with more than one division will have an advantage in the “competition”, and in individual sports, one competitor can win more than one medal. Our Olympic champion juggling champion, the president of the Nuclear Power Plant SE, a member of the board of SOSZ, Antal Kovács, shed light on this issue from the other side: Paks can’t stand more than the five outstanding divisions in terms of supply – less immersion.
I also attribute the primacy of Honvéd myself to the fact that in 2017 the association revived the sports century, which offers a career model, not just facilitates sports. Athletes often have difficulty integrating into civilian life, and the model makes it easier. It is no coincidence that the wrestling Lőrincz brothers or the team’s Olympic bronze medalist, world champion duelist András Rédli (the “Colonel”), the five-time world champion, Olympic bronze medalist, the sixth in Hungary and Ádám Marosi, the European champion the line can still be resumed.
The big ones also attract each other. The Tokyo champion swimmer, Kristóf Milák from Érd to Bp. Honvéd, the five-time Olympic champion kayaker, transferred from the Danuta Kozák capital club (UTE), won the sixth gold medal as a fradist. .
Although sport in Hungary is (also) Budapest-centric, the most successful rural sports city in Győr should not be left out of the list. In addition to traditional team sports, the city is strong in water, especially with the confirmation of Bálint Kopasz, a “child” on the Tisza.
What does the future hold? The same results – and the strengthening of rural bases.
