Baby waiting loan: most people spend on buying a home
Budapest – According to Duna House, another thousand billion forints of support will be raised throughout the year.
According to a survey by Duna House Finances, almost three-quarters of the applicants spend the amount of the contribution on the purchase of real estate, and it is expected to support families to take out a loan of about one thousand billion forints throughout the year.
According to the company’s announcement, the child loan incentive loan appeared on the credit market more than two years ago, and its popularity has remained unbroken ever since: according to the central bank, nearly HUF 1,400 billion has been disbursed to cover the Baby Waiting loan application since its launch in 2019. In the period since the announcement of the program, the loan volume amounted to approximately HUF 290 billion in January-June last year, which was 10-15 percent of the retail loan portfolio.
According to a survey of Duna House Finance’s customers, between January and December 2021, the most popular way to use the Baby Waiting was to buy a home, with more than 72 percent of applicants applying for this loan. Its share has soared more than 10 percentage points beyond the previous and one year, the seller has spent more than ever before buying a home with the baby-waiting support, the data said.
Károly Benedikt, Head of PR and Analysis at Duna House, said
Of the maximum subsidy of HUF 10 million, it can cover an average of a quarter of the purchase price of real estate in Budapest and half in the countryside, but in several cases it can also cover the entire purchase price.
He added, however, that in addition to the Baby Waiting support, shoppers in most cases need more money to achieve their housing goals, state-subsidized loans, chocolates and village shocks provide a suitable alternative.
According to the company’s analysis – taking into account the quarterly averages of HUF 175 billion in the previous quarter – by the end of the program, including the second half of 2021, the family will take out a nearly HUF 1,000 billion subsidized loan, as a baby loan is still available by the end of 2022.
