A faster train connection could be established between Prague and Mladá Boleslav
Minister of Transport Martin Kupka (ODS) wants the Railway Administration to start examining other routes for faster rail connections between Prague and Mladá Boleslav. Current plans only envisage a route via the Všejanská and Bezděčínská junctions.

This is the result of Tuesday’s meeting with the Minister, which was attended by, for example, the Governor of Liberec Martin Půta or the General Director of the Railway Administration Jiří Svoboda. According to Kupka, this is a step that fits into his plan to look at the railway network as a whole, including the connection of all regional cities, which he talks about in an interview with Zdopravy.cz.
“The proposed speeds for the route through the Všejanská spojka are not very high due to the curves. 130 km / h is not enough, “said Kupka. At yesterday’s meeting, he asked the Railway Administration to start looking for other routes for the Prague – Mladá Boleslav section. “It should be a search study that showed how the route between the two cities can be further accelerated,” he added. According to him, this does not mean that work on the Všejanská spojka, which is to be used mainly by freight transport, has stopped.
Finding new faster routes
It should not be a high-speed line, maximum 200 km / h. There are several variants in the game: for example, a connection more copying the D10 motorway or, conversely, a turn-off from the planned high-speed line to Dresden. It would also connect Neratovice or Brandýs nad Labem – Stará Boleslav. Another option is to be able to connect to the upcoming high-speed terminal in Nehvizdy. This would be close to a possible transfer in the direction from Mladá Boleslav and Liberec to trains further in the direction to Brno.

For the Mladá Boleslav – Liberec section, a feasibility study is currently being prepared, which envisages modernization to a speed of 200 km / h. Driving times for the route from Prague to Mladá Boleslav via the Všejanská junction are currently designed for about 45 minutes, which is not a major acceleration against the road. Accelerating the section from Prague to Mladá Boleslav would also speed up the proposed travel times from Prague to Liberec. There is still talk of 77 minutes, the current fastest connection is over two and a half hours.
The acceleration of the Prague – Liberec connection has been talked about since the 1990s, and an eighteenth study has been published on the subject. is still completely uncompetitive driving compared to road by road while.
