Uninhibited racism. An elected RN relays a video of an armed man threatening exiles in Calais
Marc de Fleurian, elected to the National Rally in Calais, in order to pour out his hatred for immigrants as usual, has decided to relay a video (now hosted) made in Calais dating back several months. We see a man armed with an automatic pistol, at night, running after four exiles, and shouting at them “Break you or I’ll light you up” while pointing them with his weapon.

The elected representative of the right-wing party relayed the video, accompanying it with a racist message “The scenes of violence continue in Calais”; people fleeing from the gunman.
A most repulsive and despicable hypocrisy of the situation, but which is not surprising on the part of an elected representative of a party whose members relayed racist fake news towards migrants. Like in 2018 with a deceptive video that claimed that the drowning of migrants in the Mediterranean was only a staging or in 2019 with a video supposed to show demonstrators throwing stones on a highway in Calais, but actually taking place in Israel .
These relays of fake news or misappropriation of facts remind us that the National Rally is a deeply racist and xenophobic party which is built on the hatred of people in poverty. In a sequence where xenophobic and racist speech is uninhibited with the rise of the extreme right, we must refuse instrumentalisation and fight these ideas, which have a free field thanks to the security policies of the government.
