The Cologne Sharks are caught in a negative vortex. The Bietigheim Steelers have their eleventh defeat in their last 13 games.
It’s not working at the Kölner Haie at the moment – and they are currently not coming out of there either! On Wednesday evening (January 5, 2022) there was the next defeat at the Bietigheim Steelers, 3: 4 in the end from the sharks’ point of view.
The record of the last 13 games? Mieserabel: There were eleven defeats in this period, the KEC conceded 21 goals in the last four games alone.
Kölner Haie with a new shooting record for the season
The Kölner Haie were actually dominant in the cellar child from Bietigheim, but far too harmless in front of the goal – despite a new record on goal this season! The sharks tried more than 50 times, the puck only wriggled three times in the net.
In the first third, the hosts took the lead through Matt McKnight (7th). Fortunately, thanks to Andreas Thuresson, the Haie quickly had the right answer to make it 1: 1 (8th).

In the second third the team of coach Uwe Krupp rewarded themselves, took the lead 2-1 through Jan-Luca Sennhen (25th). Bietigheim equalized, however, with a concealed shot by Jalen Smereck in the same period of the game to make it 2-2 (32nd).
There wasn’t much left for the Haie, the Steelers bagged the victory in the last third. Daniel Weiß (45.) and Riley Sheen (51.) took the lead 4-2. The Haie came in the 59th minute in the majority by Maxi Kammerer again to 4: 3, but unfortunately more was not possible.
For the sharks it is urgent to stop the negative run, the next chance for it will be in two days. On Friday (January 7th, 7.30 p.m.) it’s time to go to the Schwenninger Wild Wings. (tsc)
Kölner Haie: Games against Munich and Iserlohn postponed
In addition to the bankruptcy series, there is now also the corona chaos. Because the two games against Red Bull Munich (Sunday, January 9, 2022) and the Iserloon Roosters (Tuesday, January 11) cannot take place as planned.
The game against Munich cannot take place as usual due to quarantine measures, a postponement for the Iserlohn game was already determined in advance. There are not yet any new dates for the Kölner Haie games.
