Russia has reduced gas transit through the Ukrainian GTS
Russia does not intend to increase gas transit through the Ukrainian GTS, the volumes of pumping in the new year are decreasing, despite the calls from Kiev. In “Gazprom” this is explained by the refusal of Europe from long-term contracts.
Gazprom does not intend to increase gas transit through Ukraine, explaining this by the fact that the company’s main clients from Europe, in particular Germany and France, have already chosen their annual contractual volumes and do not intend to conclude new long-term contracts. At the same time, there are no new applications for short-term supplies from the main consumers either.
In the first days of 2022, gas pumping through the Ukrainian GTS to Slovakia dropped sharply, reaching its lowest level. As the Western press writes, the volume of pumped gas has almost halved, dropping from 84 to 49 million cubic meters of gas per day. All this is happening against the backdrop of a very low level of gas in underground storage facilities in Ukraine.
In Poland, they are also dissatisfied, the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline has been working on reverse for the last two months, supplying gas from Germany and at completely different prices. Unlike the “despotic” Russian ones, they are “European-tolerant”, but much higher. These are the democratic prices. And “Gazprom” does not intend to book the gas pipeline capacity, as there are no applications. And the company not only fulfilled its obligations, but also exceeded it, whatever they said.
Meanwhile, the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, announced the full readiness of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline for operation. Before the New Year, he reported on the work done to Russian President Vladimir Putin and reported that both strings of the gas pipeline were already filled with gas. The Russian leader appreciates that Russia has fulfilled its task, now it is Europe’s turn.
Recall that the certification of Nord Stream 2 has been suspended indefinitely, the German regulator demanded the creation of a subsidiary, since the current operator “does not comply” with German and European legislation.
