With the spring weather at the end of the year, some dared a swim, Friday, December 31, in the North. Head to a must-see in the Lille region: the famous Art Deco Roger Salengro swimming pool, in Bruay-la-Buissière.
Before taking the plunge outdoors at the end of December, there’s nothing like a little warm-up. A muscular awakening for these swimmers who will inaugurate the opening of the swimming pool Bruay-la-Buissiere (Pas de Calais) in the middle of winter. For everyone, such a swim at this time is a first. After the surprise, the relaxation is total. The water is 28 degrees, and moving, no feeling cold.
Some swimmers have traveled more than an hour for this first: to discover the only Art Deco swimming pool in France still in use. Built in 1936, it brings back some memories. “In Lille (North) there were two, there are no more today. It reminds me of my childhood“Says a swimmer. The pools will be open for several months. A consolation for those used to the swimming pool in Béthune (Pas-de-Calais), currently closed for renovations.
