As explained by the Councilor for Sport Paolo Benini “In order to ensure operational continuity at the sports hall, a consultation phase was initiated with the sports club, which had access to a path of mutual interest and usefulness for the transfer of ownership, which I followed personally”.
The sale concerns not only the superficial ownership of the asset, for an estimated value of 1,400,000 euros, the practical effects of which will take effect from 1 March 2022, but also the existing contracts of the sports club with any other sports club and related remuneration. , as well as the entire outdoor area, including the parking lots, the revenues of which will be of the Municipality. The sports club, which declares that it is not in any significant crisis or loss-making balance sheet condition and to which its youth and first team sporting needs will be ensured as regards and schedules, will assume the costs of and maintenance of the areas used and will compete with the Administration for the general expenses for utilities and for basic services in the central field in the all-inclusive measure of 110 thousand euros. This figure may in any case be subject to revision due to the increase in costs.
“An investment – continued the commissioner – for which the Municipality expects to return within 8/10 years thanks to the development of programs of use for commercial, sporting, social, aggregative, recreational, entertainment, conferences, trade fairs and events of all kinds, previously approved and carried out directly by the Entity or by investee companies or third parties, with the annual forecast of a reasonable fee of not less than 135 thousand euros. This operation has an image value and an operational and service impact on the entire city and on the Sienese sports world, but also on young people, families and local associations. Furthermore, the high social and relational significance of the enhancement of sport and its structures must be taken into account, especially in the context of post-pandemic recovery and development β.
βThe current Palazzetto – explained Benini – is the unique and non-fungible reference center of the historical sporting heritage of the city community; for this reason, the creation of a new right at costs and times that are not compatible with the programming and needs of the population and of the sports associations themselves. The enhancement of this structure, which has public interest purposes, will not be reserved only for community sports activities, but can also be used for collective purposes, such as hosting and providing protection for the eventuality of imminent danger and calamitous disaster, as well as being used as a Vaccination Center for epidemiological emergencies “.
