Another stage of the great railway development in Debrecen may come!
The first phase of the electrification and reconstruction of the railway line between Debrecen and Balmazújváros is nearing completion, and now a call for tenders related to the second phase has been published. The county seat and the district center are connected by railway line 108; In the first phase, the Debrecen – Nagymacsig will be modernized by increasing the axle load and the permitted speed, renovating the Tócóvölgy station, and establishing a new station in Macson to meet freight traffic needs.
The railway development was started by the government mainly due to the BMW plant and the related automotive investments in Debrecen.
The investing National Infrastructure Development Ltd. call of 30 December it is already in its second phase, to be completed in 36 months. According to the call for tenders, the railway line from Debrecen-Macs to Balmazújváros will be upgraded with associated facilities at a speed of 100 km per hour, together with the reconstruction of the Újváros station and the development of the safety equipment for the entire section. The project, according to them, also includes the construction of Derék utca and Nyugati Ipari Park railway stops in Debrecen, which have plans and permits, together with the related noise protection tasks. It includes the construction of the Macs Industrial Park station, the center providing remote control of the line section, the renovation of the railway bridge over the Eastern Main Canal, the reconstruction of an 8-level road crossing, the reconstruction of the road approaching the Balmazújváros station and the station foyer.
Based on the tender, the contractor will have to review the current licensing-execution plan in accordance with the modified technology, providing the necessary redesigns.
The deadline for bidding is February 18 next.
