Náměstí Bratří Synků will be renovated, Prague is preparing a competition for a new look
The planned construction of the D metro station requires modifications. The cost of the competition will be 2.6 million crowns. This follows from the city’s approved budget for 2022. Metro D will first be built from Pankrác to Písnice and then its city wants to extend to náměstí Míru.
In the future, there will be a metro station D with two exits on Braří Synků Square, directly on the square and also in Otakarova Street. “Along with the construction of exits from the metro station, it is necessary to revitalize the public spaces of the entire square and the affected part of Otakarova Street,” the document said.
The municipality chose an architectural and urban planning competition as a suitable method of transformation. The final form of the adjustments will then emerge from it. However, the principle of transport solutions on the surface will be based on the current state. The city does not have a classic competition, but we will still achieve this in the form of a so-called competitive dialogue. It is an interactive form in which the city, the Institute of IPR Planning and Development communicate with each other on an ongoing basis and agree on the final form of the proposal.
In the first phase, metro D will be built between Pankrác and Nové Dvory and will then continue to the Písnice Depot. In the future, a section from Pankrác to náměstí Míru is to be built. It has not yet been decided where the metro from Náměstí Míru will lead. One of the variants is Republic Square, according to the other, the route should go to Žižkov and Vysočany. According to this year’s update, the total estimated price is CZK 97.79 billion, the investor is a transport company.
