The arctic fox enclosure is full at ten o’clock in the morning. Michal Vaňáč, the head of the commented feeding, welcomes visitors with a bucket full of meat. In a moment, he is distributing food for foxes to children and adults. They all throw chicken delicacies over the fence. “People enjoy it. Most of them traditionally meet to feed red pandas, which are the most commonly adopted animals in our zoo, “informs the leader.
Oldřich Chuda from Brno enjoys the program with his family. “We came up with the feeding specifically, because the animals tend to be hungry in the winter, so at least let’s see something. We were at the polar foxes in the morning, now we are standing at the red pandas and after a while we are moving to the camels. It’s a nice diversion for us, “Brňan tells the editor of Rovnosti on the spot.

Gabriela Adámková from Brno also observes red pandas from a wooden footbridge. “We come here every year for Christmas, we shorten the wait for Santa Claus and I also take a few pictures,” says the young woman, who holds a huge camera in her hands.
Visit with ferrets
I meet Petr and Veronika Stejskal on the snowy streets. They traditionally spend Christmas mornings at the zoo. This year with their pets and two ferrets. “Misha and Merin unwrapped their presents this morning. They were given harnesses so we could take them out. We have been going to the zoo for maybe twenty-five years, because my dad likes to take pictures, “confides a ferret lover.
A honking ambulance is passing by near the zoo. The howls of wolves immediately resound through the area. In this I meet the spokesperson of the Brno Zoo Monika Brindzáková. He is glad that the garden is not closed as last year. “We currently have 700 visitors. For the commented feeding, we deliberately chose animals that have enough space around the exhibition so that people do not get crowded there, “the spokesman informs.
By train from Brno to Vienna Airport: a pilot ride is planned
All animals receive their favorite delicacies during the commented feeding. Arctic foxes crave chickens and mice. Camels after carrots again.
Red pandas love bamboo porridge, which is handled by its caregiver Antonín Drda. “They also get apples, carrots and they prefer pears. It’s such a treat for them once in a while, just like bamboo granules, “says the nurse.
The sun is just shining after feeding. Snowflakes glitter in the garden. I say goodbye to the staff of the Brno Zoo and wish you a Merry Christmas.
