Russia in 11 months increased by 2.95 times the supply of pipeline gas to China – Economy and business
BEIJING, December 20. / TASS /. Deliveries of pipeline gas from Russia to China in January-November increased on an annualized basis by about 2.95 times, exceeding 6.63 million tons. This was announced on Monday by the General Customs Administration (GTU) of the PRC.
As specified on the agency’s website, the dynamics was higher than in January-October, when it was 2.64 times. The total cost of China’s purchases of this type of energy carrier from Russia for 11 months reached $ 1.27 billion (an increase of 2.47 times).
According to the ministry, Turkmenistan continues to occupy Beijing among the key suppliers of pipeline natural gas: during this period, the PRC sorted out 21.91 million from the country for 6.09 billion dollars. Russia is in second place in terms of supply volume, followed by Kazakhstan (4.02 million tons for $ 946.11 million), Uzbekistan (3.03 million tons for $ 737.74 million) and Myanmar (2.79 million tons for $ 1.29 billion).
According to published statistics, the leading producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to China in January in Australia (28.52 million tons at $ 13.98 billion), followed by the United States (8.05 million tons at $ 5.18 billion) , Qatar (7.8 million tons, $ 3.75 billion) and Malaysia (7.47 million tons, $ 3.33 billion). Russia ranks sixth in LNG imports to the PRC (4.19 million tons for $ 2.45 billion), behind Indonesia (4.73 million tons for $ 2.42 billion).
According to GTU statistics, in 2020, the leading supplier of pipeline gas for the needs of the Chinese economy, fulfilling about 60% (20.7 million tons) of Beijing’s total energy imports. Over the same period of time, Russia exported to China about 2.96 million tons for $ 636.34 million.
