Jumping Amsterdam definitively postponed for another year
In an official press release, the Jumping Amsterdam organization has announced that it will have to postpone it for another year. In the past period, the Jumping Amsterdam organization has continued the Jumping Amsterdam organization with great courage and focus, despite the developments regarding the corona virus. the organization had to start to move the 2022 edition, which would take place from 27 to 30 January, to January 2023.
“This decision is very difficult for us, all the more so because we are in such a strong position,” says Irene Verheul, Sporting director and responsible for Jumping Amsterdam. “The ticket sales were fantastic, the hospitality is sold out and sponsors have been associated with Jumping Amsterdam for several years. It is unbelievable that Jumping Amsterdam cannot continue for the second year in a row. Every possible scenario has been discussed, but unfortunately with the current measures and the changes over the period afterwards, it appears that it is simply not possible. Jumping Amsterdam is an event in which bringing people together and enjoying top sport is paramount. Unfortunately that is currently impossible. A decision that is very, very difficult for us. A setback for everyone!”
‘Once again a difficult period for the events industry,’ says Paul Riemens, CEO of the RAI in Amsterdam and chairman of the board of Jumping Amsterdam. ”As RAI Amsterdam, we follow the rules of the Dutch government, the granting of the measures and the uncertain reporting offer us little perspective. I think it’s terrible that Jumping Amsterdam can’t go on for the second year. In order to be able to wait longer for the continuity of Jumping Amsterdam in the long term, we cannot wait to make these decisions.”
