Prague – The USK Praha basketball players will welcome Moscow’s 9th round of the European MBA league in the middle match and try to maintain their home invincibility in this year’s competition. The Czech champions will attack the fifth victory in a row and the seventh overall, which could strengthen the second place in group A. In the last Euroleague match in the Královka hall, the American support Alyssa Thomasová, who missed the last league duel in Ostrava due to a sore shoulder, would be missing.
“We have to keep our full concentration against Moscow and not think about Christmas yet. We must not be lulled by the fact that we won their first duel. We used to have an exceptionally good match there and a bad opponent,” coach Natália Hejková told ČTK.
USK won the opening match in October 79:54. In the absence of American stars Thomas and Brionna Jones, who still had duties in the WNBA, María Conde pulled the team by 18 points. Veronika Voráčková recorded with 14 points and 11 double doubles.
“The first match was special in that it was the premiere home duel in the Euroleague. They were nervous about them. On the contrary, our players were motivated after the previous loss in Montpellier and managed the match after tactics and games. But Moscow has basketball players who represented at various championships in their midst, so we must not underestimate anything, “said the Slovak coach.
Her trustee has won the last four duels in the competition with a difference of more than 24 points and will attack the fifth home triumph in this year’s European League. After the match with Moscow, he will end the December program in a duel competition on the Hungarian Szekszard field.
The Russian team, which owns the penultimate seventh place with two wins in Group A, will rely on under-field player Žosselina Majgová, who has an average of 12.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per match. Anastasia Logunova collects over eight points per match.
“We want to continue playing our game, which is based on solid defense and fast counterattacks. Everyone has it and it would be good if it worked as long as possible. As soon as our hurricane starts, every opponent has problems with that,” Hejková noted. “At the moment we would like to keep our series until Christmas and it doesn’t matter where we play. The home environment can only help us,” added the five-time Euroleague champion.
Hejková can count on a complete team. Thomas, who injured her shoulder in the last Euroleague duel with Montpellier and did not intervene in the league match in Ostrava, should also return. “She was dragged a little by her shoulder and she came after the match. We let her rest and rehabilitate for safety. Conde is also a little in trouble, but both players will play in the match,” added Hejková.
The match will start on Wednesday at 19:00 and due to a government regulation, you can visit it for a maximum of a thousand fans.
