Epidemic thresholds for the incidence of influenza and ARVI exceeded the norm in most constituent entities of Russia, reported on the Rospotrebnadzor website.
According to the department, the number of people infected was exceeded mainly among the adult population and adolescents. “In the 49th week of 2021 as a whole in the territory of the Russian Federation, the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory infections increased compared to the previous week. (…) In terms of the total population, the epidemic thresholds for the incidence of influenza and ARVI have been exceeded in 64 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, ”the report says.
It is reported that as of December 10, more than 62.2 million people were vaccinated against influenza in Russia, which is 42.6 percent of the country’s population.
Earlier, the head of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, said that a technological platform for influenza and coronavirus vaccines would be created in Russia. Its clinical trials will begin at the end of 2022. It is necessary to create a single vaccine against influenza and coronavirus infection, since the simultaneous infection with these diseases significantly increases the severity of the course of seasonal influenza and mortality from it, according to the Gamaleya Center.
