The P + R car park at metro B Nové Butovice should be completed in 2023
Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě) told reporters today when he tapped the foundation stone of the building. There will be about 400 parking spaces in the house, about half of which will be reserved for locals. The construction will cost approximately 293 million crowns.
The city also today opened a smaller car park at the Depo Hostivař metro station and last week a large parking house in Černý Most. Other plans for Zličín or Opatov. Prague has been struggling with a shortage of P + R car parks for a long time.
The goal of P + R car parks is to offer commuting drivers the opportunity to leave their car on the edge of the metropolis and continue by public transport. A new parking house will be built in the current car park in Petržílková Street, where there are about 170 local parking spaces. “It would not be appropriate for them to disappear without compensation, so of course we will keep the places in the parking house for the residents, the parking will even be extended by some 15, 16 places,” said Scheinherr. According to him, construction companies will now start preparing the construction site, the main work is to begin in March.
Today, according to the square, a smaller car park for about 70 cars at the A Depo Hostivař metro station has also started operating. Last Wednesday, the municipality opened a large parking house in Černý Most, where it will park 886 cars and whose construction cost about half a billion crowns. The city received about half of the money from European funds.
Scheinherr added that next year the municipality would like to start construction of another house near the Opatov metro station, for which it has ready documentation for a building permit. “We are also very close to the documentation for the building permit for the P + R parking house at the Zličín depot,” he added. In addition, according to him, the city is planning a smaller parking lot, for example in Kyje and other places.
Since August, the municipality’s management has raised parking spaces for most of the parking lots it operates, 20. It pays 100 crowns per day for four new people and 50 crowns for nine. The remaining seven, which are not guarded, are now free for 12 hours. So far, drivers in all car parks except one have paid 20 crowns a day. The increase in prices was criticized by the opposition movement YES, according to which the increase leads to drivers rather driving cars to the center.
